Bei dem Film handelt es sich nicht um eine gewohnt derbe Sandler-Komödie, sondern um ein ambitioniertes Thriller-Drama. Der Film ist ab dem 31. If you have sensitive ears, the music score of this strange film will disturb you to the point of switching channels. I stuck with it but almost stopped watching several times due to the ridiculous, loud, ill-suited music. Whoever composed or designed the music cannot possibly be a professional. Amateur friend of the Director? If you close your eyes while watching you'd be forgiven for thinking you're watching some low budget version of 'Blade Runner' perhaps made on the Cayman Islands.
As for the plot and script? Frankly, stupid.

I do NOT understand why some people have been giving this movie bad reviews. To each their own, to be fair, but the reasons I've heard so far are juvenile: They wanted an Adam Sandler movie, and instead got something that challenged them and they didn't like that. I think that's what movies are meant to do, like them or not. I really applaud people who make movies not everyone's gonna like, commercially, but that tell a great story and show you the raw truth.

Made sure to see this in theaters, and will do so for their movies in the futue. And sandler played that character so well. All of the cast did great.

This movie made me see Adam Sandler in a very different light. This guy CAN act. Besides, the storyline is terrific. The only problem I have with this movie is the audio editing; especially in the first 10 min of the movie or so we hear a jazz piece or something overlaying the dialogue- which is quite cacophonic. The other thing I didn't like is the ending. I ain't going to go into detail about that, but the ending wasn't exactly what I'd hoped or expected. It is overall a very fine movie and I'm pretty sure it will live on.

Inhalt Howard hat auch ausgefallene Schmuckstücke im Laden Howard Ratner hatte schon bessere Zeiten. Der Juwelier hat nicht nur private Probleme mit einer Frau, die sich von ihm scheiden lassen möchte und einer Affäre mit einer Angestellten, die ständig wegen irgendwas blau macht. Nein, er hat auch noch ein ziemliches Spielproblem. Und als Resultat daraus Schulden. und zwar mit 100. 000 Dollar alleine für Geldgeber Arno, seinen Schwager, nicht mal allzu knappe. Dann jedoch scheint es sich zum Besseren zu wenden. Denn Howard gerät nach 17 Monaten endlich in den Besitz eines kleinen Stück Felsens, in dem ein Schwarzer Opal verborgen ist. Das gute Stück war bei einem Minenunfall zwei Jahre zuvor zu Tage gefördert worden und ist als ungeschliffener Edelstein ( Uncut Gem) immens wertvoll. Schätzungsweise eine Mio. Dollar könnte Howard damit erlösen. Doch weil er auf die Bitten eines gewissen Basketballspielers eingeht, dabei wiederum Geld durch eine Wette wittert, gerät der Opal kurzzeitig in die falschen Hände. Schlimmer noch: Als Howard ihn endlich wieder hat, geht auch noch die Auktion schief und der Juwelier steht genauso mittellos da wie zuvor … Hat Julia Howard mit dem DJ betrogen? Bereits im Mai 2016 gab es erste Ankündigungen, dass die Brüder Josh und Benny Safdie ( Good Time) Uncut Gems / Schwarze Diamanten realisieren wollten. Basierend auf einem Skript, das sie gemeinsam mit Ronald Bronstein geschrieben hatten. Für den US-Release übernahm dann der Independent-Vertrieb A24 den Verleih und am 30. August 2019 feierte der Film auf dem Telluride Filmfestival seine Premiere. Erst im Dezember folgte dann der Start in den US-Kinos, was aufgrund der vorzüglichen Bewertungen für den Film allerdings für ein phänomenales Einspiel von gut 48 Mio. Dollar reichte. wohlgemerkt bei 20 Mio Dollar Produktionskosten und einem sehr limitierten Release in wenigen Kinos. Während in den USA eine offizielle Kinoveröffentlichung genutzt wurde, schnappte sich für die internationale Vermarktung der Streaming-Anbieter Netflix die Rechte – und hat damit eigentlich einen weiteren Oscar-Kandidaten im Programm. Wenn die Academy ihn denn beachtet hätte. Das Erstaunliche an Der schwarze Diamant ist aber seine Besetzung. Hatten die Safdies schon 2009 mit Adam Sandler gesprochen, um ihm die Rolle für den seinerzeit bereits erdachten Film zuzusprechen, lehnte er damals ab – in einer Zeit, in der Sandler noch ganz erfolgreich mit seinen Komödien war. Als es dann 2017 in die heiße Produktionsphase ging, sollte Jonah Hill die Hauptrolle übernehmen, zog sich aber dann doch zurück. Und siehe da: Plötzlich hatte Adam Sandler doch Lust auf den Film – in einer Zeit, da er als Live-Action-Darsteller abseits von Sprechrollen in Animationsfilmen kaum noch Beachtung fand. Ein Schelm, wer Böses dabei denkt. Ein Schelm aber auch, wer denkt, dass der Film damit schlecht beraten gewesen sei. Denn wer den in New York geborenen Schauspieler/Komiker aufgrund seiner infantil-albernen Rollen in noch infantileren Filmen stets ablehnte, dürfte sich verwundert die Augen reiben. Demany schustert Howard potente Kunden zu Schon ein paar Mal bewies Sandler, dass er ein viel besserer Schauspieler ist, wenn er ernste/dramatische Rollen übernimmt als wenn er sich wie ein Zehnjähriger benimmt. Zuletzt war ihm das im bis heute unterschätzten The Cobbler. Der Schuhmagier gelungen. Dort spielt er den Schumacher wider Willen (der auf magische Weise in die Körper anderer schlüpfen kann) sensibel, feinfühlig und zurückhaltend. Nun agiert er in Der schwarze Diamant aber auf einem bisher ungeahnten Niveau und wird mit Preisen und Lob überhäuft. Zu Recht. Denn was Sandler hier als vom Schicksal gebeutelter Juwelier mit Schulden und zwei Frauengeschichten am Hals abliefert, ist große Schauspielkunst. Mit einer nuancierten Mischung aus Drama, unterschwelliger Aggression, Hektik und Stehauf-Komik vermittelt er eindrücklich, dass sein Howard stets am Rande des Wahnsinns entlang hangelt. Deutlich wird das in Szenen, wenn er das Basketballspiel schaut, auf das er gewettet hat und erst auf die x-te Bitte, seinem Sohn eine gute Nacht zu wünschen, reagiert – natürlich schaut er im Kinderzimmer das Spiel auf dem Smartphone weiter. Es ist schon erstaunlich, wie gut Sandler hier agiert. Und während er sich immer weiter in den Schlamassel reitet und gleichzeitig allen anderen die Schuld für seine eigenen Verfehlungen gibt, steigert sich auch der Film selbst immer mehr. Sein Geld lässt Howard im Wettbüro Denn nicht nur Sandler bietet eine unglaubliche Performance, auch Der schwarze Diamant selbst packt von Minute zu Minute fester zu. Beginnend mit einem zehnminütigen Intro, das Howard in ständiger Bewegung zeigt, wird das Szenario immer packender. Nach einer sensationell gefilmten und metaphorisch eindeutigen Sequenz, in der die Kamera vom Inneren des Opals und seinen schillernden Schichten in Howards Dickdarm während einer Spiegelung blendet, geht es kontinuierlich weiter. Die Kamera verfolgt und dokumentiert jeden von Howards Schritten – mal aus der Nähe, mal aus der Ferne. Ständig ist sie in Bewegung. Die Handlung kommt kaum zur Ruhe und wirkt genauso getrieben wie Howard selbst. Ratner braucht den Stress, das Adrenalin und den Kick. Er ist ein Spieler. und die Art der Inszenierung spiegelt das wider. Dazu ertönt eine höchst ungewöhnliche Filmmusik. Was in den ersten Minuten noch für Verwirrung sorgen könnte, weil sie dauerhaft vor sich hin wabert, ebbt nach den Titelschriftzügen zunächst ab. Dennoch bleibt der Score einzigartig. Es vermischt sich eine 80er-Jahre-Synthie-Musik (die auch aus billigen Pornos stammen könnte) mit Elementen aus Rap, Klassik und Soul. Der Film wird auf eine Weise akustisch unterlegt, wie man es nicht vermutet hätte. Und je länger er andauert, umso mehr wird man von diesem ungewöhnlichen Musikstil gepackt. Wenn Howard nach einer Dreiviertelstunde seine Abreibung bekommt, schürt sie sogar die Spannung und Dramatik. Gleichzeitig sorgen die bewusste Körnung sowie der steile Kontrastumfang für eine ganz eigenwillige Stimmung und Atmosphäre. New York sieht ein bisschen aus wie in den Mafiafilmen Scorseses und ist bevölkert mit unzähligen beschäftigten Menschen. Eine Atmosphäre, die wie gemacht ist für eine klassische Loser-Story, die sich über 135 Minuten mehr und mehr in einen Rausch aus unglaublichen Situationen, fiebriger Hektik und zerplatzter Träume steigert. Und obwohl dieser Howard wirklich ein gewissenloser Arsch ist, sitzt man gespannt vor den letzten 20 Minuten, wenn er das alles entscheidende Spiel kommentiert wie ein Sportmoderator auf Speed. Am Ende bleibt man nach einem echten Paukenschlag fast fassungslos zurück und muss konstatieren: Neben  Irishman und  Marriage Story ist  Der schwarze Diamant  eines der größten Netflix-Highlights der letzten Monate. Basketball-Star KG hält den Opal für einen Glücksbringer Bild- und Tonqualität New York wird zum hektischen Schauplatz der Geschichte Der schwarze Diamant  wurde hübsch oldschool aufgenommen. Kameramann Darius Khondji und die Safdie-Regisseure entschieden sich (hauptsächlich) für analoge Kameras und nutzten hier die Arricam LT und ST, um auf 35mm Film aufzuzeichnen. Allerdings wurden ergänzend auch Digitalkameras (bspw. für die Nachtclub-Szene) verwendet, die im Look später angepasst wurden. Khondji mag die Herausforderung und die Abwechslung. Immerhin hat er schon mit Jean-Pierre Jeunet in Delicatessen oder mit David Fincher bei  Sieben zusammen gearbeitet. zwei durchaus unterschiedliche Filme. Während Khondji das Kino und den Look der 70er liebt, musste er dieses Mal seine Komfortzone etwas verlassen und seine Vorlieben mit dem körnig-schmuddeligen 80er-Jahre-Wunsch der Safdies kombinieren. Teil des Looks des Films sind bisweilen extreme Zooms bis in Close-ups hinein. Wo andere Filmemacher auf 50mm-Normalbrennweiten setzen, um ihren Figuren nahe zu kommen, beschritt Khondji neue Wege und nutzte oftmals extrem lange Brennweiten bis hin zu 350mm. Auf diese Weise war er den Gesichtern zwar sehr nahe, filmte aber dabei aber oft aus der Distanz. Eine Art und Weise, die für einen speziellen Look sorgt und die vom Stream authentisch wiedergegeben wird. Netflix setzt zudem mittlerweile für die exklusiv vermarkteten Filme voraus, dass in 4K gefilmt oder das Master in 4K angefertigt wurde. Letzteres ist hier der Fall, denn vom 35mm-Filmmaterial wurde ein 4K-Digital-Intermediate angefertigt, was zudem für den Streaming-Anbieter mit der dynamischen Kontraststeigerung Dolby Vision ausgestattet wurde. Noch-Ehefrau Dinah verachtet alles an ihrem Mann Was dem Betrachter natürlich als Erstes ins Auge fällt, ist das deutlich Korn, das die beiden Regisseure ganz bewusst genauso haben wollten. Und „deutlich“ meint an dieser Stelle wirklich DEUTLICH. Wer das nicht mag, wird kein Fan vom Bild von  Der schwarze Diamant werden. Zumal es bisweilen in dunklen Innenräumen noch heftiger zuschlägt und zeitgleich für einen großen Verlust an Auflösung sorgt (ab 850. Interessant ist hingegen, wie gut es gelungen ist, die analogen und digitalen Bilder aneinander anzugleichen. Um dies zu gewährleisten, wurden teilweise extra angefertigte, analog-körnige Aufnahmen über die digitalen Sequenzen gelegt. Von der Farbgebung her fällt auf, dass die Außenszenen und dort vor allem die nächtlichen einen etwas kühleren, bläulich-cyanfarbenen Look haben. Innenräume sind derweil meist warm gehalten. Die anfängliche Panik nach dem Grubenunglück hätte wesentlich mehr Dynamik und Surround-Aktivität ermöglicht und auch die Vertonung innerhalb des Schachts bleibt kurz darauf unter den Möglichkeiten, die eine solche beengte und akustisch herausstechende Situation ermöglicht hätte. Der kurze Nachhall bleibt allerdings fast vollkommen auf die Front beschränkt und lediglich die Filmmusik während der Titelsequenz selbst gerät etwas räumlicher. Nehmen wir die Disko-Szene als Highlight zur Mitte, wird hier der Bass zwar mal etwas aktiver genutzt, aber die Clubmusik selbst bleibt auch eher dumpfer Natur. Immerhin sind die Dialoge gut verständlich und Sandler hat seine gewohnte Synchronstimme. das ist nicht unbedingt etwas, das man von Netflix erwarten darf. Bezogen auf die Dolby-Atmos-Spur des O-Tons wird diese einfach durchweg mit einbezogen. allerdings meist ohne echte dedizierte 3D-Sounds. Im Prinzip wird nur das Geschehen der regulären Ebene etwas nach oben gespiegelt. Nach zweieinhalb Minuten gibts mal etwas zielgerichteten Wind von oben und während der Titelsequenz wabern Elektrosounds aus den Heights. Während diese beiden Elemente gut passen, werden die Dialoge teilweise viel zu präsent mit nach oben gemischt, obwohl sie dort optisch nichts verloren haben (1800. Noch einmal recht gelungen mischt sich der Score bohrend auf die Heights, wenn Howard von Arnolds Schergen gepackt wird (ab 4350. Fazit Uncut Gems. Panipat - Preview It is high time I (or maybe each one of us as an audience) set up a few guidelines while watching period dramas that are based on real life. My first one would be, Forget it is a real-life story. There is no way it will be accurate down to the last detail. I would think even an attempt to be close to reality would be overkill in terms of effort and costs, so no one is really trying. When most films barely manage to achieve what they set to achieve, why even try to like or dislike them based on what they aren't even shooting for? Let alone production, I am convinced most makers are not even a hundred percent interested in figuring out facts or unknown/unexpected details. It is just a topic that caught their fancy, and they want to narrate a story. With these minimal expectations, often I find myself enjoying the extravagance on display. If there is a bit of zing in narration, even better. However, these days, with at least two films a year that have such elaborate visuals, there is no novelty. Thus making my interest in the movie completely dependent on the story and how it is told. Unfortunately, Panipat 's trailer doesn't create that kind of interest. The casting seems uninspired. The visuals seem like a copy-paste from any of the previous period dramas, maybe from Gowariker's own stock footage. We are now banking entirely on the telling of the story. Despite having betrayal in the title of the film, it doesnt focus too hard on the acts of loyalty and betrayal but spends its energy and time-space on the pursuit of loyalty and reasons for betrayal. Since they were not all-out bad, they kept the attention where it was supposed to be on the story. This is why the length of the film bothered me a lot less than the minutes over 120 usually do. And there were 50 of those! By the end, I was convinced that most of the pauses in the narrative and lingering about in the screenplay might be necessary to absorb the interactions, deals, and counter-deals. The same goes for the voice-over. Very rarely do I feel I need something explicitly spelt out for me. At a couple of points, I was actually grateful for the helpful commentary. It also helped that the dramatics were kept to a bare minimum. Except for a few moments in the climax, there were no in-the-face theatrics. No slo-mo entries, no overbearing introductions—except for maybe the one for Abdali ( Sanjay Dutt. In fact, the action extravaganza was conspicuous by its absence. Only about half-hour of action in an almost three-hour film must have needed quite some restraint. Much appreciated. Even the action bits share the war-time with strategy. Along similar lines, I found the underwhelming performances a positive contribution to the film. No really. A star-actor playing Sadashiv Rao, for instance, would have distracted from the heroism that the director wanted to attribute to him. Arjun Kapoor s lack of screen presence keeps him from stealing his characters thunder. I was pleasantly surprised by the subtlety of his act, especially in his interactions with his wife, Parvati, played by Kriti Sanon. Sanon herself is allowed to go beyond the “prop” roles that she usually does. Her voice modulation here actually tells you about her characters feelings. In contrast to the two, Sanjay Dutt comes across as hammy. Is it just me, or were the first few notes of naayak nahi played through the film? The huge supporting cast doesnt take too much attention—good or bad. The only exceptions might be the better-known faces such as Padmini Kolhapure, Mohnish Behl, and Zeenat Aman. But, it is good to see them on screen again. And it is brief so doesnt really hamper the narration. There are also the little things that felt like there was some attempt at attention to detail. A young voice for a young character when he is singing, and the recoil of canons are a couple of such examples. Except for a few moments in the climax there were no in-the-face theatrics. I am not sure about the accuracy of the costumes, the props, the décor, the language and accent used by people from the different regions, considering it is a period drama. I liked that some of these departments, including CGI, were less than perfect. Since they were not all-out bad, they kept the attention where it was supposed to be on the story. Panipat has clearly taken liberties to gloss over aspects such as travelling heavy and with pilgrims and women that are considered as reasons for the failure of the Maratha attack. It also leaves the reason why Abdali might never have returned to Hindustan out and makes his victory letter a eulogy to the great warrior that Sadashiv was. Now, whether this is what the makers believe or whether this route was chosen to avoid controversy, we will never know. Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Kapoor & Kriti Sanon are spectacular. The direction is great as well. So is the story and it rolls at a decent pace. I also like the way you start connecting with the characters in the film with the passage of time. You literally feel their anger & pain. Problem is, the music is poor and the songs make the movie feel very long. They are absolutely unnecessary and disrupts the flow & pace of the film. There's no comic element in the film as well. None! I found that a little disappointing. However, overall it's definitely a movie you should watch at the theaters this weekend.

Panipat presents the fierce journey of Sadashiv Rao Bhau (Arjun Kapoor) the Commander-in-Chief of the Maratha Army who leads a northern expedition to fight off the invading forces of Ahmad Shah Abdali (Sanjay Dutt) the King of Afghanistan. On the other ‘Parvati Bai (Kriti Sanon) the queen of the reign also fights along with the brave warrior ‘Sadashiv Rao Bhau in the battle against the forces of Ahmad Shah Abdali. The year 2019 has seen the release of big-budget period action films and all of them have been well received by the audiences, like MANIKARNIKA – THE QUEEN OF JHANSI, KESARI and SYE RAA NARASIMHA REDDY. Now the final 2019 film in this league, PANIPAT, is all set to release, and it promises to be a grand and entertaining affair. So does PANIPAT manage to give the audiences a great time? Or does it fail? Lets analyse. PANIPAT is the story of one of the most important chapters of history. The year is 1760. The Marathas under Sadashivrao Bhau (Arjun Kapoor) finally annexe the Udgiri Fort in present-day southern Maharashtra and thereby finish the Nizamshahi rule for good. The Marathas have now occupied most of India. Nana Saheb Peshwa (Mohnish Bahl) is very happy with the developments and especially with Sadashiv. Nana Saheb's wife Gopika Bai (Padmini Kolhapure) however feels insecure with her hubbys fondness for Sadashiv. At her insistence, Sadashiv is given the responsibility of handling the treasury. Sadashiv is shocked at this development as he has always been a warrior. Nevertheless he accepts this change of duty. He also gets to spend time with Parvati Bai (Kriti Sanon) a physician. Both fall in love and get married. Meanwhile, while checking the finances, Sadashiv realises that the kingdoms up North are not paying the dues to the Marathas, as they had promised. A message is then sent to all these kings, including Mughal empeor Alamgir II (S M Zaheer. Najib-Ud-Daula (Mantra) is a part of the Mughal court and hes asked to leave. Hes so frustrated with the high handedness of the Marathas that he decides to defeat them once and for all. To do so, he knocks on the doors of Ahmed Shah Abdali (Sanjay Dutt) the Afghan ruler of Kandahar. At first, Abdali declines since he realises that Najib-Ud-Daula is seeking his help for his selfish gains. But then he also realises that if he manages to capture a large part of India, it would add to his prowess. Hence he sets off to India. The Marathas find out about Abdali's plans and that he is approaching with 1 lakh soldiers. Sadashiv however feels that despite having lesser number of soldiers, the Marathas can still defeat Abdali. Nana Saheb gives Sadashiv the responsibility of going up North to stop Abdali with 40, 000 soldiers. On the way, Sadashiv seeks help from various kingdoms and forges alliances. Most of them agree to be on his side and provide armymen. Shuja-Ud-Daula (Kunal R Kapoor) is the Wazir of Awadh and Sadashiv asks for his help as well. In return, he agrees to make him the Wazir of Delhi once Abdali is defeated. Shuja-Ud-Daula asks for this agreement in writing. The Marathas agree to do so and said that theyll return in a few days with the written assurance. In the interim, Abdalis men meet Shuja-Ud-Daula. They too make the same offer that hell be made Delhis Wazir and whats more, they get the written agreement with them. Shuja-Ud-Daula hence joins Abdali. This serves a blow for Sadashiv since Shuja-Ud-Daulas alliance would have helped him immensely. Nevertheless, he agrees to fight, come what may. What happens next forms the rest of the film. Chandrashekhar Dhavalikar, Ranjeet Bahadur, Aditya Rawal and Ashutosh Gowariker's story is close to reality. It is praiseworthy that Gowariker and his team chose this topic as its one of the significant battles of Indian history. Also, many viewers would not be aware that the Marathas at one point were so strong in India. Hence, it turns out to be an entertaining as well as enlightening experience for them. Chandrashekhar Dhavalikar, Ranjeet Bahadur, Aditya Rawal and Ashutosh Gowariker's screenplay is fine for most parts but is not consistent. A few scenes dont pack a punch and hence, bring the impact down. A few scenes however are exceptionally written. Ashok Chakradhar's dialogues are nothing great. Ashutosh Gowariker's direction is neat and uncomplicated for most parts. Hes in form after a long time. He very beautifully presents the Maratha Empire in all its glory. The battle scenes in the second half keep the interest going. Also noteworthy is the scene of the truce between Sadashiv and Abdali. But the politics and the problems faced by Marathas in getting help in battling Abdali ought to have been better explained. Also, the film could have been more commercial and massy as there were several scenes that had that kind of appeal. The length is another issue. At 2. 53 hours, the film is quite long, especially in the first half. Another big problem with the film is that the tagline is ‘The Great Betrayal. This bit comes out in a crucial scene in the climax. But the build up to it is very weak. Hence, audiences dont really get a shock when the man who does the ‘great betrayal shows his true intentions. Hence, the impact gets diluted. “I disagree that Abdali was a VILLAINOUS character…”: Sanjay Dutt, Arjun, Kriti, Ashutosh, Panipat PANIPAT begins on a fair note with the scene of the Udgiri Fort annexation. The film then falls a bit as the focus shifts to the politics happening within Shaniwar Wada, Pune. Also, the romantic track of Sadashiv-Parvati Bai is decent but nothing extraordinary. The entry of Abdali is quite interesting and it enhances interest. The film dips once again and the interest then only rises during the intermission point. This is an excellent sequence, when Sadashiv and Abdali come face to face and it sets the mood of the second half. The post interval portion starts off well as Sadashiv comes up with a great plan of capturing Delhis Red Fort. This sequence is quite significant, also because viewers might not be aware of this chapter of history. Ashutosh Gowariker however reserves the best for the finale. The truce sequence followed by the 30-minute-long climax engrosses viewers. The betrayal bit however could have been better explained. The final scene of Abdali is fine and it is a great way to end the film. Arjun Kapoor gives his hundred per cent. His physique comes in handy for this character and he indeed looks like a ferocious warrior who can induce fear in enemies. In non-action scenes too, he is quite good. But in a few scenes, hes a bit off. This is especially in the romantic portions. Sanjay Dutt too tries his best to be menacing but succeeds partly. A fine effort, nevertheless! Kriti Sanon is quite confident and gives an impressive performance. She is not there in the film for the heck of it. She has a very important part and her action scene would be loved! Mohnish Bahl is dependable but hes hardly there in the second half. Sahil Salathia (Shamsher Bahadur; Bajirao and Mastanis son) leaves a tremendous mark and its great to see that he got such an important part. Same goes for Nawab Shah (Ibrahim Khan Gardi. Mantra understands his character and brings the require jealousy and immaturity. Zeenat Aman (Sakina Begum) is excellent in the cameo and her scene with Kriti Sanon is one of the highpoints of the film. The other actors who do a good job are Padmini Kolhapure, Kunal R Kapoor, S M Zaheer, Milind Gunaji (Dattaji Shinde) Abhishek Nigam (Vishwas Rao) Ravindra Mahajani (Malhar Rao Holkar) and Suhasini Mulay (Sadashivs grandmother; presumably Radha Bai. Ajay-Atul's music is a big letdown. None of the songs are memorable. 'Mard Maratha' is shot well but the song is very dull. Same goes for 'Mann Mein Shiva. Sapna Hai Sach Hai' lacks soul. Ajay-Atul's background score is way better and exhilarating. Muraleedharan C K's cinematography is spectacular and captures the battle and other scenes effectively. Raju Khan's choreography is worth appreciating in 'Mann Mein Shiva. Nitin Chandrakant Desai's production design, as expected, is grand and visually stunning. However, some sets seem too similar to that of JODHAA AKBAR [2008] and PREM RATAN DHAN PAYO [2015. Neeta Lulla's costumes are quite authentic and in sync with the bygone era. Vikram Gaikwad's makeup and hair design is very detailed. Abbas Ali Moghul's action makes for a great watch and is sans gore or too much of bloodshed. VFX is done by Ashutosh Gowarikers company (AGPPL VFX) and is fine in most scenes. The slow-motion shots in climax fight adds to the impact. Steven Bernard's editing could have been tighter. On the whole, PANIPAT throws light on an important chapter of Indian history with the battle scenes as its USP. At the box office, it will need a strong word of mouth since it faces competition in the form of PATI PATNI AUR WOH.
